Seriously. Every time I sweep or vacuum I'm picking up copious amounts of cat hair. I got the cat around this time last year, but I don't recall it being this bad then.

You wouldn't think such a tiny animal would be able to grow this much hair, but I'm having trouble keeping up with it. Do any other cat owners have this problem? How are you dealing with it? Do those pet hair brushes/mittens help?

Brushing every day probably helps, but I don't do that. My short furred girl sheds more than the long furred tom, but I could make a new cat every year with the fur they drop :^D

Cat is probably shedding its winter coat.

Is it an indoor-outdoor cat? If so, try keeping it indoors during the heat of the day, and let it out during the cooler evening hours.

Last year I took my cats in and got them shaved for the summer. Best thing I ever did. Did it again this summer and while there is still a small bit of fuzz to clean off the couch, I dont have nearly the amount of hair to clean up anymore.

You're fucked. I never want another cat again. The endless fight against that hair getting all over your clothes, it just sucks. You can never own/wear anything black without looking like a dirty slob with cat hair all over you.

I never wear anything black anymore.
I won't even bring a suit into the house. I'd really like a suit, if not for anything more than interview attire. Although I still look slick as fuck in a suit.

Gawd-damned walking hairbags...Our Siamese/himalayan cross was terrible. Just pet him and the hair would explode off and go everywhere. My black shorthair still sheds...copious amounts, but it's not with the same "urgency" as the other one. However, everywhere she lays...she leaves a black "carpet of fur."

Summer is the worst, (obviously) and she gets a couple of baths every summer to help get rid of loose hair.

When cats are stressed or something has changed in their routine they'll shed more too. Did you change food or get a new something in the house recently?

No nothing has changed. It started with the onset of summer weather though, so I'm guessing it's seasonal.
