My cat growls at my other cat occasionally. Sounds like your cat has an attitude problem. My cats don't get mad, they just follow me around hoping for more food, and make cute cat noises.
 
Believe it or not, it's more show than anything else. He WILL let you know what he's had enough. He's like a windup toy though. After getting him riled up just below the "attack" threshold, I'll leave him alone and someone will walk by and he cuts loose with a full fury attack and the surprised person is like WTF kind of drugs are you feeding this cat?

yeah my neighbors had a cat that would growl if you tried to take food away from it. once we let it in the house and it stole a chicken bone off the dinner table, so we chased it all around trying to take it away (chicken bones can splinter and injure an animal), and when we'd get close he'd growl like crazy and try to slash your hand off. nice little kitty. 😉
 
If a cat growled at me like that or tried to slice me open with a stupid cat paw slash....he'd be in for a HUGE surprise. How about a six foot ninja boner uppercut?!?!
 
My cat growls too, but generally only at unknown cats or sometimes people who intrude on his territory. I was surprised to hear him growling at one of his littermates who stole a toy from him when I was picking him out, but they growled right back at him. He doesn't growl about his food unless another animal tries to take it. He knows I'm looking out for his best interests.
