My cat brings home dead stuff all the time...

Moles, birds, mice, rats, you name it...a friend of mine once told me her cat brought home a 6-8 pound rabbit in the middle of the night and left it on her younger sister's bed.

Rats are usually as big as or bigger than gophers.

Our cat used to wait by the door hiding, drag the dead gopher downstairs to the family room behind the couch and leave a gut pile behind. Eat everything fur and bones but leave the guts.
He was a real hunter that one rabbits, baby mink, birds, our pet hampster. . .
I miss ole smokey:(

I think it's a mole, or maybe a vole. If the front feet look like mouse feet, then vole, if weird dirt-digging type then mole. A gopher looks kind of like a squirrel, and it's bigger.
