...clip his nails, pick the crud out of his eyes, and look at his teeth. Are your pets as tolerant?

Also, looking at teeth is not the problem. It's actually brushing them. Q tips are usually ok as well, but rinsing the ears with cleaning solution is a problem. My cats are tolerant of nail clipping for a few nails, but then get upset.

my new puppy, dixie got her first bath the other night. so calm, didn't freak out like most puppies do when getting their first bath.

she's such a calm dog.

Well, some cats need their ears cleaned. But a Q-tip is not the right way to do it. I didn't catch that in the OP that he was cleaning the ears with it. I use a q-tip once in a great while to see what's going on in the ear (sometimes they seem unusually waxy and I check to see if it looks like ear mites).
