I recently changed from a Voodoo 3 to an Asus GeForce MX and now the card keeps overheating when I play games. (At least I think that's the problem. The screen freezes and I have to restart.) I tried moving my PCI cards as far from the AGP area as possible to give the GeForce card more room, but it still overheats. I even opened my case and stuck a fan next to it but that didn't help. I'm not over clocking the card and my Voodoo card before that never gave me trouble. Any suggestions? Should I get sometype of cooling device to attach to the card?

Thanks!

Are you sure it's overheating. Driver issues can cause the very problems you've listed. If you're not O/C'ing the card then my $$$ would be on drivers. Need more information.

I think that I'm using the NVidia Detonator 3 (or whaterver they are called) drivers. I guess I can try the Asus drivers for awhile. That improved my performance a bit but I guess it could be causing the problem. I'll post a message on here after I try it out.

Thanks.

Are you using Direct X 7a or 8? I also had the same problem, and you might need the latest BIOS driver from your manufacturer. I took mine back and got the Voodoo5

This slipped my mind yesterday, you should take a look at Geforce FAQ. This place is loaded with GF information, should be helpful.

Use only your card vendor drivers, the detonator 3 drivers are only for reference and are not optimized for your specific video board..
