My car was keyed!

I was in Chicago for the weekend, and when I came back from shopping, I found that someone had keyed nearly the entire length of the back door, and half the front. I was going to use touch up paint with langka, and I was wondering if anyone had any experience with this. It is a really deep scratch. Thanks in advance.

Edit: Can they raise my insurance for claiming this?

Langka works but its more involved than they make it sound. You may have the make the marks deeper so the touchup paint will hold. If the key marks aren't too deep, I'd try Scratch-X by Meguiars...

I suggest just getting the whole side of the car repainted... nothing will make it really look that good other than repainting.

Touch up paint is going to look like garbage. You need to have the whole side repainted, or it will never be the same.

Insurance - file a claim with yours. Hopefully you had good coverage on a car of that quality.

Yet another reason to spend less on a vehicle. 😛
Repainting costs the same no matter what vehicle company, unless it is some exotic color like chromillusion or something.

ugh, that really sucks your car got keyed. a friend of mine used langka on some scratches he had. he said that it didn't really work that well by itself. i think you might need to use a combination of touch-up paint, sanding, and polishing.

Does anyone know an approximate cost for repainting the entire side?

If you know someone, it'll could be as low as $600. if not, expect a cool $1k.

That's not fun. Will my insurance go up if I file this claim?

You're right about that. However, I'm sure the people who keyed his car did it because of the type of car and not the type of paint.

I dont think think so, because it was not an accident. Similar to a cracked windshield.

Are you that type of person?

bastards,
you do not fvck with the man's vehicle...

that's pretty weird though, MLs are fairly common in midwest and it's not like they stand out all that much...
😕

Your best bet is to claim it on your comprehensive and have the MB dealer fix it for you however they feel appropriate. Either way the dealer will charge the ins. arm and a leg, the touch up paint sticks alone cost 25 bucks. (i picked up a set the other week for my moms c class)

What type of person? Please, vague questions always elude me this early after a 3 day weekend.
