Sonofa! Had to drive across town today for a race. Took two rocks in the windshield on the way, didn't notice any damage en route. But, after the race, I noticed that there were now two inch long cracks on opposite side of the wind shield. Got home, showered and changed to head out to another engagement, cracks were now several inches long. :(

Fvck, when I get this replaced, it'll be this car's third windshield.

What state do you live in? In mine, you get a new windshield FOC ... assuming you are insured.

I had never had a stone or anything like that hit my windshield until last month. I was on the highway and a semi kicked up a rock at me. HOLY SHIT I was scared. The thing hit right at head level and made a noise like a gunshot.

I think I pinched a hole in my seat...

I commuted into the SF Bay for years. I could count on having to replace at least one windshield every year...mostly between Livermore and Dublin...from the gravel trucks.

Yes you do, every car has one. It's the vents aimed toward your windshield.

I meant, it doesn't work. :p

Car also lacks AC, for that matter.

But, so long as my desire to not have a car payment is greater than my desire to purchase a newer vehicle, I will continue to drive the Corolla. :p

Seriously, when I can manage a 6K cash down payment, I'm eye-ing a new vehicle next spring.

and.. why are you spending money to replace the windshield then?

most insurance policies have "free crack repair" if they dont have free replacement.

Free to replace to south Carolina. I had to have 3 changed on my Honda Fit in 2 years. Perfect angle for taking rocks.

You can only repair a windshield with the crack is less than an inch long. He needs a new windshield.

Because the AC is strictly a comfort thing, and I know its a 350 dollar repair bill.

My insurance is strictly liability, sincerely doubt they have any kind of glass replacement, but I intend to check into it on Monday morning.

i guess this depends on the state/company

i had a nice spiderweb crack in the middle of my windshield... about 4-5 inches long... and they repaired it no problem.

What's wrong with the AC?

It's not always expensive to fix AC (though it can sometimes be), I bought a car cheap because the AC was broken. I tried a cheapo can of stuff to charge it up and notice the fill valve literally had bubbles coming out of it. If I remember right the valve core cost $2 or $3 and then I just filled it back up. Total cost of fix was something like $50. The car's AC still works 3 years later.
