My car may take another day or two. They gave me some Saturn compact, which I don't mind as much but it fvcking REEKS of smoke. Although it's only the smell, I find myself getting scratchy throat and coughing.

Can I exchange the car for something else? Would it cost me $$? (Enterprise)

Go back to the agency and ask for another one. Tell them the smoke is really irritating your allergies or something.

Go to enterprise and tell them that the car ain't working for you, and you're getting a new one for free.

Roll down the windows and drive the crap out of it.

Edit: I should say Mad Max style.

That's what you get for buying a Mazda. Crappy rental service. Yeah, I know it was Enterprise, but they have rentals and not service loaners at your dealer. How long is it going to be in service? Unless more than a day I'd buck up. Waste of time to go back over there unless you are a serious pansy.

Come on, its a rental. Do some burnouts, doughnuts, and rev the sh!t out of it.

Get some nice smoke coming from the tires and you will barely notice the other smoke smell.

Just tell them that the rental car they gave you is unacceptable because of the smoke smell and that you want another. They should do it for no charge (although there may be some inconvenience).

Why is the 6 in for warranty repair already?

I've had Budget swap a car for me because it reeked of smoke. My feeling has always been that while rental companies may not be required to detail a car in between renting it out, it should be unoffensive to sit inside of.

I feel for you. We have some company cars here that belong to some heavy smokers and one summer I had to load something up in one. It was in the 90s and I opened the car door and felt nauseated from the disgusting stench wafting from the vehicle. I would never, ever drive one of those cars even if I had to pay my own gas and drive mine for company business on a long trip.

Whenever I get a rental they always ask me if I want a (cigarette/cigar) smoke free car.
