my car honks by itself

my 2003 solara honks by itself. my hands are nowhere near the horn, but it honks anyway. happens when i step on gas pedal. it doesnt happen often enough so that i can make the incident reoccur, but nonetheless, it does happen. happens at random times. anyone nkow why?

I actuall saw a car (it was a jetta) that honked whenever the driver pressed on the brake. I can imagine the hilarity that ensued...

haha. yea im gonna go to the dealership tomorrow. just wondering if anyone had any answers before i went. i would hate to piss people off by my car's honking.
 
I had a similar experience w/my Buick. Apprenently one of the pressure sensors in the steering wheel went bad and just started going off at the slighest touch and/or jolt/vibration from driving. Unfortunetly my horn sensors are bundled w/my air bag which is like 5 or 6 hundred to replace so I just pulled the fuse to the horn. I'm planning on rigging a kill switch to the horn out of the fuse box, so I can at least have a horn when I need one, but I've never gotten around to it.

my car is only 3 months old. should be free for me right? to fix the problem. i just hope it doesnt take too much time otu of the day
 
i have to confess. when i originally read this title, i thought it said "my car honks itself". and thus... i thought the car masturbated...

Uhh you'll regret that when someone is not paying attention and about to back into you or hit your car. I've used my horn numerous times when people started changing lanes into me or were backing out of a parked spot.
