Besides a leak, which I don't think I have, what kind of problems could be related to going through coolant quickly.

The car is a 95 BMW 325i w/84K miles. I had the auxiliary fan replaced recently. The car runs fine but the computer indicates it needs coolant just 2 months after putting in earlier.

It's either eating it, leaking it, or boiling it off. :p

if you're not seeing it in the exhaust, then you could also have a faulty thermostat.
causing it to overflow from your overflow reservoir while driving.

i had a bad leak in the hose last fall. at first i noticed an odd odour smelling of chlorine coming through the vents. then the fans stopped blowing. the third symptom was that the car would need coolant ALL the time....then it just plain started smoking and i had to get the car towed. it ended up needing a new hose and all this other crap, but $1500 bux later (CDN) it was good to go. bleh.
