My Calculator of 13 Years finally died this morning

It looked like the calculator equivalent of a seizure or heart attack. I'll miss it.

Very square, very sturdy, and always reliable. I guess I'm in the market for a new calculator now. Any good choices? Do they still make the HPs like they used to?

I have a TI-89 lying around here. I got it about 6 years ago. But, at least for me, the HP seems so much easier. So I never really used it. Maybe I need to give it another go.

i :heart: my ti-83+ although i suppose the 89 is better. either way, they all rocks and make HS math so much easier.

Worked great, but I can't find batteries for it anymore. Uses a strange "N" cell battery.

It just makes high school math harder when you get to college and realize that you have to relearn all of the basics because the professor doesnt give you any numbers on tests and just wants you to solve every calculus problem in variable form :/

if you do that, then you suck in. i don't use the ti-83 instead of learning the math itself. in fact, i can't use it on tests. but for other stuff, especially since we're starting trigonometry, it makes it much easier.

I still have an HP-11C that I bought back around 1985 that's still on its original batteries. Works great, and RPN FTW.

I also have an HP 41-CV that I bought 21 years ago, and it is still on the original set of batteries and it still works (still use it to balance the checkbook). Amazing, but those calculators have incredibly low power draw.

I am worried about what will happen when the batteries finally run out; I checked the HP site and they don't make any of the scientific calculators that they used like the 41, or the 15c. There are some financial versions they still make that use RPN, I guess I will have to go with that.

I think that Radio Shack has N-Cell batteries.

I had a hp48G in hs till it was stolen, i have a 48gx now. i loved how powerful it was but it was never banned from any test since it didn't have a qwerty keyboard.

I had a 48g in college and grad school, until it finally died.

Just bought a 50g as a gift to myself, and it's really nice! Funny how it's basically the EXACT same calculator as the 48g series, but that's not a bad thing!
