My buy.com rant

On BR I ordered a Wii package for a family present. A week later it was still "processing". So Sunday night I said to hell with them and sent an email to cancel and ordered a package from Walmart Monday mourning. Later in the mourning I called buy.com to confirm the cancellation. They told they couldn't cancel because they were shipping it out later that day. OK, well I don't want and will be refusing the shipment. Sorry, nothing we can do is all I got. Sure enough later that day they shipped it, but never charged my card. Later Monday Walmart charged my card and shipped theirs out as well. Great, after not being able to find one I have two on the way.

I didn't have enough money in my account to pay for both because I was planning buy.com actually cancelling the order. Well they finally got around to charging my card on Tuesday which was declined. So they sent me an email asking me to please change my payment information upon which I promptly told them I wasn't and would be refusing their shipment. They should have listened to me Monday. They were less than enthused. Lesson for them is to charge for the product before shipping it. I am sure they will keep trying to charge the card and they will succeed as my wife got paid today and I get paid tomorrow. I just find it funny they shipped it out before actually getting paid for it.

Go to your bank and tell them to refuse any future transactions from them or for the specific amount.

Funny. You normally hear people complaining that eTailers charge them for purchases before they've shipped the order (especially when the stuff ends up being backordered for weeks).

An extra $250 maxed out your line of credit? Damn, no wonder we are all fucked! :)

No, but I'm having a go around with eTronics at this moment. Those guys are freaking idiots and don't know how to run a company.

Cliff Version:
1. Placed Order
2. Got email saying they couldn't verify info with CC company, want me to send a utility bill or phone bill to prove I am who I am?
3. I call them to ask WTF was going on -I'm not sending personal information because of their inability to charge a CC - lady was really nasty, we cancel the order totally.
4. Call CC company and they said the charge went through and they have no clue what eTronics is talking about.
5. Call back eTronics and they said it wasn't the CC, it was cause I ordered through Google Checkout and that google didn't give them my last name for the billing info?? He said I wouldn't have had any problem if I ordered through their website. I told him the first girl could have told me that instead of blaming my CC company. He said the order was cancelled.
6. Get an email from eTronics 52 minutes later that says " We have successfully verified the information that you provided, and your order is now being processed for shipment."
7. I have to email and call AGAIN to tell them the stupid freaking order has been cancelled, not to ship it, that I didn't freaking verify anything.

On top of that? BOA froze my CC because I placed an order with ABT for the same product and they though my CC was being used for fraud :) lol They saw 3 seperate charges for over $1200 on the same day. I'm glad they did it though. Just funny the mess that was created by etronics.

Hmm, I might have missed it, but he didn't say if it was a bank card or a credit card.

Given that he said that it would likely be resolved when his check and his wife's check was deposited, I'm assuming that it was a debit card. Even so, that's dangerous living right there.

The rant should be about the OP, not Buy.com
The OP should have taken care of one transaction before staring another.

I agree, never use your debit card online.

Yeah, after my experiences and those of friends, I only order from them when it's a really good deal, and even then I have to think long and hard about it.

I recently used my debit card online for the first time:
Debit card used online: 1 time
False charge on my debit card: 1 time

There's that...plus some credit cards give you rewards points and other forms of cashback, so I'm not sure why someone would use a debit card at Buy.com.

Using your debit card online is like screwing prostitutes without a condom. You have nobody but yourself to blame when you end up with AIDS.

I've also never had a problem with Buy.com. Bought my HDTV there and many items for work.

I've had very few problems with Buy.com over the past 6 or 7 years. Of the few problems I've had, they've been resolved quickly.

I purchased a video card from them once. I hadn't finished typing in my address and accidentally hit "buy", the transaction went through with only a partial address (a street number two letters of the street and zip code) I called them up to correct the address, they refused and sent the package out anyways. Ended up having to deal with Fedex and work it out with them.

It was a debit card. Yeah an extra $400 charge would have overdrawn the account, sorry I am not a baller like everyone else on here. It was a couple days before our next paychecks and we had done all of our Christmas shopping on the previous ones so it was getting a little tight, no credit card shopping this year. Cash and carry.

I have never had a problem with using debit cards online as ours require a password to be put in during the processing when you place the order. So if someone does steal the card number they will need to crack the password as well.
