My burner needs a aspi driver?!?!?

I have a IDE 12x Plextor cd writer and I can burn using WinOnCD that came with the burner. When I try nero, cdrwin or fireburner they tell me that no aspi drivers are fount. I have a IDE burner and not scsi so why do I need a aspi driver??
