My Budget Gaming Build

Guys, could any one of you point me in the direction of a decent gaming build for around or less than $700? Hacp from tech-forums said you guys could help me out. I want the following:

AMD 3000+ 939 Venice
eVGA 128MB 6800 <--Good rebate on it
1GB (Choose) PC3200

Then if you guys could help me w/ case, MoBo, and such, that would be great. I have a hard drive I am going to switch over, so no need for that.

Cases can be had for $50 shipped from Newegg. An A64 Venice plus mobo will set you back at least $250 (also on newegg). If you have a local Fry's, you can get 1GB good RAM for <$100 after rebates. Pick up a 6800 on these forums for $200 or less.

That puts you at $600 worst case, or as low as $500 if you're lucky. Now with such a setup, I'd spend about $80 on a good PSU to protect your PC.

Good luck!

err, could you tell me where you're getting the eVGA 128MB 6800 with the rebate from? I'm actually looking for the same card myself 😀

For other components, I'd just go with most whatever people tell you seeing as you have the 2 most important components already covered. Don't forget to save a few bucks to get some nice accessories! (I'd recommend the Logitech MX518 for a mouse, a large cloth pad like a Fatal1ty pad or DKT pad/Supermat, whatever, and for a headset (if you're on a serious budget, then these: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16836151019 are just amazing for the price, I've used them for months but I recently bought me some Sennheiser HD-280's) but if you have more cash I'd go with maybe some Sennheiser PC160's, Icemat Siberia's or that new Steelpad Headset.)

Thanks for the info. Everyone is telling me to get PCI-E MoBo's, but this is my first build, I really can't spend a lot, when the deals are so great right now on the AGP versions of the 6 series cards.
