I hate it when peeps ask me about laptops. I have no experience in build or repair as with desktops. I read the posts but the really good stuff is really expensive.
He would like it relatively soon, but he may wait until the July 4th madness.
I'm thinking of snagging a Dell $750 off on next offering or hoping for one of those 10 laptops everyone will be shoving in line for July 4th "predawn $100 off big freekin' deal @ BestBuy savings."
Some guy in another thread mentioned building his own lappy from a barebones.
Then there's other forums devoted to notebooks such as notebookreview.com that talk about Fujitsu and Asus.
Anyway, he just needs it for email, web searching and best if it's lite, rugged (I can just see him dropping it and calling me for help) and of course he'll say he can get some cheapie from COSTCO so why buy the industrial strength IBM for $2500. (I truely hate this.) I suppose I should suggest he buy a used hardbody from someone who upgraded cause they needed more power than just email etc.
