He has an original Droid which is now in dire need of replacement. He doesn't need the latest and greatest - he's using the $30 Page Plus plan so no iPhones or LTE phones. I'm looking for something around $200 with good battery life and a good stock ROM (as stable and bloatware-free as possible). A physical keyboard is probably not necessary.

I've narrowed down my search to the Incredible 2, Droid 3 and Droid X2. I've never used an Android phone with a skin like Sense or Blur but I've heard a lot about the two Droids - mostly that they are buggy. Any suggestions?

Are you getting a used phone off craigslist or something? I'd recommend the HTC Rezound (have one love it) and the Galaxy Nexus (would get it if I was in the market).

Droid X2 was extremely buggy on launch but it has had quite a few OTAs since then so it could be stable now.

Why can't he get one of the phones I mentioned and disable the LTE radio w/ the toggle? This way he can still enjoy ICS/JB and 720p screen.

Page plus will not activate a LTE phone on their network, but I have heard the iPhone works even though they say no.

You have to edit the phone using CDMA workshop or something most LTE phones start with ESN 99000 and are not allowed to be activated. It is far more involved than you think. There also isn't that many tutorials available.

Here is a thread for the nexus on various carriers.

Any of the phones you mention will be great on PagePlus. I have both the Droid X2 and the Inc2. The X2 is beefier with a slightly larger screen. The Inc2 is a little smaller, but has a more fluid feel to it when using it. Either choice is great. Don't know much about the Droid 3.

There are places that will flash a 4g phone for Pageplus, but the DO NOT guarantee data to work, and when it does, usually you get 1x at best.... The CDMA iphone works out of the box. Just don't tell them that is what you are activating, and usually they don't ask. Use a service like http://www.kittywireless.com and do it all on line....
