*rant*My dad finnally ordered @Home, and as it turns out, My signal is crap. It goes off from 7pm-11pm EVERY NIGHT. The techs can't figure out what is wrong, except that the infrastucture is bad. It isn't like they're going to fix a gajillion miles of cable for the 7 customers out here, so I want DSL. My father will NOT order DSL because he spent $200 on getting cable, and won't spend another $200 to get a service that WORKS half the time. I just can't see the logic in that.*rant* I better submit this before my internet connection dies again. Thanks for letting me rant.

Something like that is credited to RF. Have a tech out to the house and check the modem, the lines in the house, the lines to the headend, and the lines to the node (if the tech is willing to do it).

Nik <-- was a Tier2 tech for @Home

That really sucks. Are you signed onto a contract? If not, I'd try to get different broadban service right away!

You could always go back to dialup you know? There are some people in this world (like me) who don't have (and can't get because it's not available) broadband access. So I'm stuck typing this and sending it over a 56K modem. Yeah, that's it...a freaking 56000 bits per second...well more like 53200, but anyway. And yes, for those spoiled ones out there who have always had access to broadband, it is true that modems suck, they're very slow, and give generally unreliable connections.

just keep bitching until you speak to someone higher up in rank. usually they will help you out if you complain enough

FFM, all that has been done. they KNOW it's because the signal is so weak out here, we can't stay in synch during peak usage times, which is 7-11, appx.

off peak times i get around 1-2mbps, usually closer to the 1 though, far less than was promised, anyway, i'm not on much at off peak times, so it doesn't help me much.
