I bought a new cd player for my car. I've wanted to buy this for a while so I decided to treat myself. It was $600 + tax (CDN)

Pioneer Premier P880PRS

I got it home, wired everything up and installed the deck. The first thing I see is a big fscking scratch through the paint on one of the buttons!

The LED shines right through and I've got a glowing scratch on my deck!

I know for a fact that I didn't cause this damage because I didn't have the faceplate in while I was working on the deck. This was damaged right from the factory.

Do you think I can take it back after I've already installed everything and ask for a replacement? I'm really annoyed that I have to deal with this kind of crap on my last day of holidays. I can't even do anything today because they're closed.

I don't see any scratches. Maybe that's how a headunit looks like when the person taking the picture's drunk.

Wow, way to read the first page of directions where they always tell you to make sure all items in the package are accounted for and undamaged. But yeah, just put it all back in the box and return it, if they give you crap threaten them with the BBB or whatever you people have up there.

I've looked through the documentation and there is nothing that I can see that says "make sure there is no damage before you begin". Now This is something I probably should have done anyway, but when you've got a brand new item, I can't say it's the first thing on my mind.

All I've got is the camera on my cell phone. It's the best picture I can take.

That's a lot of $$$ for a CD Deck. Does it at least sound good? Did you replace speakers and such too?

Ack, can you take any worse of a pic? A new digital camera is 1/3rd the price of that HU.

Edit: looking at the in-focus pics on pioneers website, that's a damn nice HU.... sorry it's scratched. Where'd you buy it from? Most retail stores will take it back and exchange it for another one, even after it's been installed. Can't hurt to try. If else fails, paint it :p

That unit looks darn nice as it is pretty sleek and not to childish like most of the others.
