Fresh from the operation..

Athlon64 X2 4800+ @ 2.6GHz
2x1GB OCZ Titanium DDR3200 @ 2.5-3-3-5 (1T)
ASUS A8N-SLI Premium
BFG GeForce 7800GTX OC @ 490/1.35
2x74GB Western Digital Raptor
Creative Audigy 2 ZS

Lian-Li V1000
ZALMAN CNPS 7000B-Cu
Enermax Noisetaker E701AX 600W

.... it still hurts.
So far so good, no stability problem except that I had to replace a Raptor. (was DOA) and memory refuses to operate at its advertised spec(2-3-2-5).

Temps are quite satisfactory at 39C (idle)/46C (load), but Lian-Li V1000 is definitely not for a quiet system. Also, 7800GTX idles at 49C and loads at 75C+.

I was a bit worried because this system was my first attempt at AMD platform. Now I wonder why I haven't already made the switch. It's like night and day. (Then again, I liked the HyperThreading very much.)

I ran 3DMark05 for fun, and the result was surprising.

Heck, as long as you sprung for that X2 - why didn't you go for the extra 7800? It wouldn't have hurt you as much as the X2.

X2 4800+: OEM, $999 from Monarch
BFG 7800GTX: $549+Tax from Bestbuy
ASUS A8N-SLI Premium: $190 from ZZF
OCZ PC3200 Titanium: $320 from Monarch
Lian-Li V1000: $199 from Performance-PCs

ZALMAN/Enermax: Had CompUSA gift cards from my birthday so used them. Considering that I usually buy games only from them, no expense from me on this purchase.
Audigy 2 ZS: Left-over from my old machine

hot dude.

Might want to check with OCZ about not running at the rated speeds. I'm sure they will hook you up.

I didn't go for the second 7800 because the games I play (and games I believe will come out in near future) doesn't benefit much from SLI and/or a single card is good enough for them. And believe or not, I tried to save here and there as much as I can, and the Bestbuy discount coupon wouldn't apply to more than one item.

Pretty close to what I'm going to be running later this afternoon when FedEx arrives with my 20 to 24pin cable for the M/B and my BFG Video Card! LOL

w00t , nice, let me know please how the new Premium (heatpiped model) goes 🙂

EDIT, check Asus site i know some peeps had probs with ram on NF2 when new, they rec you use Corsair, they got very nice XL with samsung tccd v 1.2 with nice timmings.

You should hit 300/600 HT on that (old fsb) btw AMD dont use Hyperthreading, they only invented and patented it in 2002, the cpus have short pipes so dont benifit only Intels long pipes need it.

Amds HT = Hypertransport, which claims some devices can communicate upto 48x faster than before.

All such great equipment but one key feature is missing! Please don't tell us your playing on a 17" display.

24" LCD widescreen would be the only acceptable answer...

memory refuses to operate at its advertised spec(2-3-2-5).
Isn't it standard that cas 2 means cas 2 for intel chipsets, but usually means cas 2.5 for A64 with the onboard mem controller?

Wtf are you talking about.

I run 2-2-2-5 on my A64, I love it when 2.5-3-3 guys try to tell me there no difference too.

I know what he means, its some misleading info of corsairs site about timmings for Intel and AMD, ignore it, and the DFI ive seen can run CAS 1.5 although its not officially supported by AMD, the users say they fell a difference, obv they cant run this at really high HT (fsb). and not all ram supports, my ram can do CAS 1.0 at 400mhz but only 2.5 at 500mhz but my mobos cant do under CAS 2.0 (nf2)

I've had a Samsung 213T for almost 3 years. Although I'd love to have a widescreen monitor, I've been very satisfied with this monitor.

Maybe my next operation would be to be 30" long. (Cinema Display, lol)

I'm not sure.. Is it? Thinking about it, it sounds like I've heard about it though.. Where can I double-check it?

Thanks!

Are you sure that mobo can supply enough juice to run those sticks at their rated timings?
A lot of OCZ stuff is low timing/high voltage, and not many mobo's hit even 3v (EPoX, DFI and one other, maybe Biostar does).
