I've got my resume and contact info out on Dice and Monster. I've got a couple calls now from tech recruiters concerning some contract positions in my area.

Getting calls is fine. IF I CAN FREAKING UNDERSTAND YOU. It is not pleasant being able to decipher every 5th word that they say.

Is this some kind of recruiting test? If I can understand what they are saying, do I win the prize? Are they testing my ability to decrypt a mutant hybrid language of somebody speaking in 1/3 Hindi, 1/3 English, and 1/3 garbled crap because they are chewing on the headset microphone.

It's hard not coming across as an asshole or an idiot when talking to these people. Best I can do is just repeat "Put it in an email, I'll correspond with you that way".

:sigh:

Sorry, I'll quit calling you.

Yesterday, someone called my house talking like that wondering if my mom would be interested in a survey. Unfortunately my mom's comprehension of English isn't that good so combined with poor comprehension of my mom and poor enunication of the person made a rather amusing conversation since both were going "what? i don't know what you're talking about" the whole time.

Desired dialog:

"If somebody came up to you, asked you what your skills were, how long you had been employed in that position, and what rate you were asking and if you accept a 1099 for the payment, how would you respond."

But instead heard: "If...you.....what...skills....employed....rate....asking...1099....respond"

What would you do?

Asking them to repeat doesn't help. At all.
