We have been together over a year and a half now, and although I know he doesn't want me to get a tattoo, I would've hoped that he'd be mature and respectful enough to allow me to do what I want with my own body. We're both grown adults, but he's acting like a child and clinging to his religion. His scripture does nothing for me; I've asked him for logical reasons why I shouldn't get a tattoo, but I don't think he heard me - he was too busy chanting, crossing himself, and throwing holy water everywhere. I may have made some off-hand remark about how I wasn't going to get a tattoo earlier, but I've changed my mind, and I'm entitled to that, at least.
I want a tattoo for the asthetic enjoyment I know it will bring me; he claims that I just want a tattoo to show off to people. He asks me "Why?"
I ask him "Why not?"
When he quotes some scripture at me, I know he's just using it because it's convenient. I know he lives a comfortable life; someone living with that sort of adherence to the complete Bible, or even the most important parts, would be giving away a lot more time and money on the needy, rather than critisizing my needs.
What should I do?
