My boss doesnt have my cell phone number or my home number, but he called a coworker to try to reach me, thankfully my coworker didnt give him my phone number. He wants me to come in to work tomorrow! My office in downtown Manhattan is of course closed, but a backup office has been setup in midtown. I sure as hell aint going to work! I work for a major financial institution, and the freakin bond market aint even open tomorrow! Stupid STUPID managers! All they think about is work, they even tried to call in my coworker to work TODAY, DOWNTOWN, 6 blocks from the World Trade Center! This was after the collapse of the buildings! I cant believe this! I'll just say I didnt hear anything about coming to work tomorrow, they dont pay me enough!

it'll help things along if you just go to work. financial markets will most likely be closed but that doesn't mean you can;t be productive

Mayor Guiliani is recommending that all New Yorkers stay home from work tomorrow. Use that as your excuse.

Not to mention that a MAJOR ACT OF TERRORISM was just committed in your city!!!

I understand if you are too distraught to go to work, but otherwise I would go if I were you. Quite frankly, the financial institutions are going to have to get back up to speed very quickly, and if you are needed then you are needed.

At the moment I don't feel like ever returning to school, but my motivation is that I will not let these stupid terrorists bring me down. I will go by my usual schedule no matter how much I am hurting. Don't let them stop you either, that's exactly what they want.

Ben,

I'm with you here, but to add - if I were in your situation, they couldn't pay me enough. Obviously it isn't imperative that you come in to work, and to boot, Guiliani recommended that people stay out of Manhattan tomorrow.

All of the financial markets are closed tomorrow, with the exception of the foreign exchange markets which have no bearing on my work at all. So no, I am not going in to work tomorrow, there will be nothing to do since the markets wont be open. There would be no reason for me to be there, except so that my managers can say that they and their department were working throughout this crisis. Of course if I was a firefighter or some kind of rescue worker I would be there in a flash, but this is just a job, me being at work aint gonna help anyone. It'll only make my family worry more, and that aint worth it. LOB and crapapple, maybe you would go to work in situations like this, I have more important things to do, like be with my family.

You think that's bad. One of my bosses came up to me this morning and asked if I heard about the terrorist acts. I told him I had and that it was incredibly disturbing.

I said to him, "Dear God, I wonder how many innocent souls are lost."

His reponse, *looks around for a second* "Wait, wasn't Heather [one of our part timers] supposed to come in to work today?"

She went to the restroom. She's here you insenstive son of a b*tch! :| Arrrghh, I can't believe that was the only thing he could think about! I wanted to get up and punch him in neck, the bastard! :|

Your bosses are dicks... but... please don't have your life affected by this, as Guliani kept repeating today, don't let them shatter your spirits... yes, they devastated the city, but its over. Try to go back to living life..

Just like my idiotic boss that wanted me to come to work on the day of the Northridge earthquake to help clean up the place. When my own place was in shambles and I also had to help my inlaws that had their building condemned.

Needless to say that my family comes before my work. Fricking aszholes.
