It doesn't happen on every call, but enough that it's quite annoying. I've tried adjusting the volume, and I've already exchanged phones twice for similar problems. What the heck can I do to fix this problem?
 
try holding the mic (the bottom part of the phone) a little farther away from your mouth (an inch or two).
 
it's the other party's phone doing it, not yours. there is an incidental delay with cell phones and their receiver's sound is bleeding into the mic, causing the echo.
