EDIT*****

Hey thanks so much guys. Ive received the monitor and checking it out now and have a few more questions.

I have 2 dvi ports in the back of my video card, no hdmi out.

1) Will a DVI-to-HDMI cable be all I need to view the monitor in 1080p? with 2 dvi out ports can I use the new monitor in 1080p and still have a port open for another lcd?

2) In order to watch tv from the monitor, would I have to plug the cable box into the graphics card? or could i bypass the graphics card and use the 2nd hdmi out to plug the tv into the box and just change the input?

thanks guys much appreciated.

So I am a very impulsive person who loves a good deal.

I picked up a Samsung 24 inch monitor/tv (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...425&nm_mc=BFUS) for 219 bucks. I opted to pay a bit more for a monitor with a tv tuner as I would use it for both. But as I wait for it to arrive, i have a few questions:

1) I want to verify my gfx card can display 1080p

2) Would it be possible to have 3 monitors with my one gfx card (listed below)

3) I currently have att uverse that uses a phone line to send information. My inclination is im going to need a box to watch tv from the monitor as the box the box would provide the coaxial conversion. right?

4)and lastly is the monitor worth the 219?

thanks guys.

1) yes

2) No, you need SLI cards for that since you picked a nvidia card (ati/amd cards can do upwards of 6 monitors with 1 card).

3) No idea

4) The monitor costs more on newegg, so you got a good deal.
It looks like a good monitor, Id have gotten one with LCD backlight though. Possibly Id have gotten a 2ms one as well.... But again those things would probably make the monitor cost more, which in turn isnt a good thing.

You make it sound like he either just bought his 8800GTS, or AMD had eyefinity capability before the hd5x00 series cards.

You can't hook your cable box up to your video card, so yes you can just switch inputs on the TV.

You can hook your TV to your cable box with component, coax, RCA Audio/Video, or HDMI. Component or HDMI will give you the best picture quality.

Also note that when you hook your PC up to the TV, whether it be VGA or HDMI, you will only get video through the monitor. You will need to buy another cable if you expect your PC to output sound to the monitor as well.

All video cards have high resolution. Its what resolution your monitor supports that matters.

In your case, you can do 1080p no problem.

Thanks.. I dont have much experience with using a monitor/tv so thanks so much.

It looks like it will function like a normal HDTV. They probably also called it a monitor because of its size and it may not have as many video calibration options as their regular HDTVs. In essence it's probably under a more uncommon category for purely marketing reasons. Functionally it looks like an HDTV to me.

Use component cables (the red/green/blue ones) to connect the U-Verse box to the monitor. Use HDMI to connect your computer to the monitor.
