KA24DE, yes. I just put in a 248 S13 exhaust cam on the intake side and advanced it 2.5 degrees to bring it close to factory timing (with the 4 teeth CCW method the cam is 1.7 degrees retarded, with the timing gears you can bring it to 0.8 degrees advanced).

a SR20DET is a quick bolt in and about 30 mins of wiring for a pro.Still I am seriously debating keeping the KA and doing a KA-T. It's a long stroke engine so it produces serious torque. The stroke though keeps it to 7500 rpms and less...SR's can go to 8000+ which is usually good for one less shift to stay in the powerband.
That said, the LS1 engine (or LS6) is an almost factory fit giving better balance than stock. The trade off here is higher cost and more difficult to swap than an SR.

that's fine. He more than likely sounds just like the other 10 cobras and mustangs at each stop light too.

The same could be said for the Nissan. I am curious ... what is it about the Nissan? With all the great deals on SC300/400s ... why drive the 240? The Lexus is a much better car, looks nicer (especially with the right mods) and has many different engine-swap options.
I may be biased though ... I love my '93 SC400 (stock) with only 48K miles.

I have yet to see another 97/98 at any light. I have seen only a handful of 95+. Between 97 and 98 they only made 5000 of these.
the SC300 is a pig, if you want to pimp it's a good cruiser...doesn't handle well though. You can make a drag car out of them easy though with Supra build ups....but you may was well buy the Mustang at that point.
Your SC400 has an automatic too...real sporty.

Son,
Yes, unfortunately Lexus never made the 400 in a 5-speed. This is the first automatic that I've owned in 20 years. 'Sporty' is a relative term. My V8 is more than powerful enough to outrun the vast majority of the cars on the road today, stock. I just don't see what you see in the 240 ... you must be considerably younger than I am. I have no intention of doind any swaps, modding or 'pimpin'. The added body kits, loud (illegal) mufflers, etc. tend to make these cars look just plain embarrassments. I would be ashamed to be seen in or around most of these cars after they mave been modified.
Why change what is already perfect? I congratulate you on your birthday present, happy birthday but in my opinion the the 92-00 SC300/400 is probably one of the top 10 most beautiful production cars ever made and was Motortrend's 1992 car-of-the-year. Only about 50,000 SC300/400 were ever made so they are becoming somewhat rare. My '93 cost $51,000 ... in 1993. I bought the car recently for a very small fraction of that with only 48K miles on it. That is value ...

50,000 cars doesn't equal rarity. We have 2 sc300's in our parking lot (100 employees here)...both chicks.
