aw...our one bird flew away too..a long time ago. Cockateil...name's Princess. We were outside cleaning her cage and i guess my brother didn't remember to watch her..and some ugly black crow flew by and scared her..and she just flew off. Our beautiful Princess...awww.

Two weeks later my brother got anther one..and a couple months after that...one more to keep the first one company.

maybe she'll come back, unless she gets eaten by a cat first of course. But you never know, she may come back to her babies.

My Cockateil flew away once. I was outside 2 days later and could hear her chirping... found her two houses away in a tree. That was the day after we had a killer rain storm. She was very glad to see me:) So maybe it would be worth a shot to sit outside and see if you can hear her.

I like parakeets..

I had two of them growing up (one after the other died).. Both of them managed to get out of our house at various times.. They flew out, then we'd go after them, and they would come land on our fingers or our heads.

Once, my parakeet flew all the way into my back yard and landed on my tree. I went back there and whistled and the bird came and landed on my head. It was a nice feeling to get my bird back. :)

Just because a bird can fly doesn't make it a bad pet. Some birds make for great companions. Parrots, Parakeets, Cockatiels, etc., are very intelligent and social animals.

Finches I don't know too much about.

I have 2 cockatoos and a moustached parakeet.....my birds couldnt live without me....one of the cockatoos has taken off, he was back 10 minutes later, I think he just went out and knocked up a blue jay or something. I don't clip their wings or put them in cages, we have converted a bedroom into an aviary with trees and such.
