I got an AMD 1.4 Ghz and an ABIT KG7-RAID

The ABIT KG7 is shipped supporting 1.33 GHz CPU's, and will support the 1.4 GHz CPU's with a bios update. I have a 1.4 GHz CPU, therefore when I plug in RAM, CPU, and Video, and turn on my computer, nothing happens, therefore I cant flash the bios!!

It's a vicious circle! what can I do?

All else fails... you can go buy a slower athlon, flash the bios, then return the cpu

Am I losing touch with reality........what is the difference between a 1.33 and 1.4 that doesn't allow the 1.4 to run at a slower clock rate. As far as I know any chip rated at a higher clock should be able to run at a slower speed. I never have dealt with athlons so I am not sure of your multiplier settings but you should be able to find one that allows your 1.4 to run at some slower speed with the bus at a proper speed. Then update the bios and properly adjust the multiplier setttings.

unless the CPU is dead, the computer wont boot because the motherboard will not support 1.4 GHz until a bios flash!!

we cant even get into a bios screen.

Which 1.4GHz did you get, the 200FSB or the 266FSB (B or C)? Have you tried doing a hard reset on the bios, by using the jumper? Remember when resetting the bios with the jumper, the system should be unplugged.

Did you follow instructions in motherboard manual I believe it was page 3-4. Bios initializes before your computer ever boots. There is an option to press insert while booting if the cpu has changed to reset the parameters.
