My BIOS counts the RAM three times before booting into Windows.

I have an Aopen AX6BC with Micron PC-100 memory. When ever I boot the computer the BIOS counts the ram three times during the POST. Then it goes into windows. Anyone know what this means? Is my RAM going bad? Thanks in advance.

No. Your RAM is not going bad. There is a setting within your BIOS titled "Quick Power On Self Test". Please set this option to "enable" and the memory will not be counted three times. Your PC will boot much faster.

Prodigy,

Re-read what I've posted. I made a few changes and have indicated what specifically needed to be changed on the AOpen AX6BC motherboard. However, most Award BIOSs should give you this option.

wje..
i believe that you were correct on your post..
my friend didnt know what was happening until i told him about that..

there is also that 'virus check' thingy in bios that, when it is on it wont let you install windows..
