My Bike

I ride to work every day, rain or shine. I have a Suzuki DL650 V-strom. Yes, I know it's ugly, but it will take me anywhere, never breaks down, and has a sweet engine. I've been riding about a year and a half, so I'm pretty new to it as well.

How is it riding in the winter with the snow and freezing temps?

I just bought a Buell Lightning. I ride almost every day to work, unless it's snowy/icy or severe thunderstorms. Gotta love 50+ mpg!

and hoping to ride it almost everyday

i love yamahas. dream bike combo is a 600R w/ an R6 for the track 😀

hoping to get a ninja250 in 3 years (right when i get out of college)

I just got my first bike back in June. A 1975 Honda CB550.

Been riding it to work/school every day. I wuss out in the rain though, because my tires are crap, and the brakes need work/bleeding so they pretty much go completely out in the rain. It's a rolling restore, just like my car. Neither will likely ever get too pretty but I'm keeping them both on the road.

Tried it and loved it last summer. Plan/thinking very seriously about getting a Honda CBR125 or Kawi ZZR/Ninja 250 in the next year or two after I finish college. Just gotta move out first cause parents do not approve even the slightest... Oh, and you will probably go WTF, but those two low hp/displacement bikes are by ideal/dream bikes since I don't plan on much highway riding.

Well not really a "bike" but I have an old-school Honda Elite 150 Deluxe that I am learning to ride on. Its only a 150 but its light and perfect for Chicago city riding (and parking). I have been riding since June but I already want something bigger like a silverwing (250cc), and I am saving up for one in two years.

I can ride a manual transmission bike but i like the twist and go and step-through.

Not much snow in Seattle...I don't ride when the roads are snowy/icy, at any rate.

As for the temps, well, cold? Good gear helps, but I don't think I'd do long rides when it's really cold. Extra layers, heated grips (have), heated vest (don't), and good wind protection (have) do wonders.

I just got a bike a few weeks ago, 1983 Honda Nighthawk 550. I ride to work when the weather is good. I too wuss out on rain because i'm a new rider, I don't really have gear for it, and I dunno about the condition of my tires. I have ridden in the rain before and found it to be pretty unpleasant (rain drops hurt at 45mph).

I like the Shadows though, I'd think about one when I'm ready to upgrade

I wanna get one. I have a 25 miles commute (one way) and it'd really save on gas going into work. Plus, I like them.
