My biggest encounter with road rage this afternoon...

Didn't want to type this over again, so...

ThisIsMatt (4:03:48 PM): got into the biggest road rage incident ever today
ThisIsMatt (4:04:15 PM): alright, so I'm gettin on the freeway and this particular onramp splits into the northbound and southbound lanes....
ThisIsMatt (4:04:25 PM): at this point, it's still one lane, but the road is pretty wide
ThisIsMatt (4:04:32 PM): and this a**hole in a minivan starts pulling along my left side
ThisIsMatt (4:04:35 PM): but I need to get to the left (this is still one lane)
ThisIsMatt (4:04:40 PM): so I start signalling and start to pull over further to the left side
ThisIsMatt (4:04:44 PM): but he doesn't back off
ThisIsMatt (4:04:48 PM): and so I give him the finger (naturally 😉)
ThisIsMatt (4:04:53 PM): eventually I get in front of him but now he's tailing me
ThisIsMatt (4:04:59 PM): so I merge onto the freeway and go up over 100mph (limit is 65)
ThisIsMatt (4:05:03 PM): and he's still on me
ThisIsMatt (4:05:08 PM): so I figure I'll just let him go by and drop it, right?
ThisIsMatt (4:05:24 PM): I let him by, but then he immediately pulls in front of me and slams on the brakes
ThisIsMatt (4:05:31 PM): so now I'm pissed and giving him the finger some more
ThisIsMatt (4:05:42 PM): and so now I'm behind him, and he's doing 60
ThisIsMatt (4:05:50 PM): I go to pass and he brakes and swerves in front of me
ThisIsMatt (4:05:57 PM): repeat this 4 or 5 times
ThisIsMatt (4:06:03 PM): so I just tail him as the cars pile up behind us in the left lane
ThisIsMatt (4:06:08 PM): eventually cars pass both of us on the right
ThisIsMatt (4:06:12 PM): I tried to pass him a few more times and he just guns it every time
ThisIsMatt (4:06:19 PM): so we went up to 100 a few more times
ThisIsMatt (4:06:21 PM): this went on for about 20 miles, but then I got off...

Everyone could tell what this guy was doing...I faked him out a few times pretending to change lanes as he swerved all over the road in front of me...total psycho
 
why did you flick him off to begin with? that was dumb. i woulda just called the highway emergency #.. get his ass arrested
 
Why didn't you slow down and pull in behind him to begin with?

And flipping somebody the bird never helps (not that I'm above that sort of thing).
 
I know EXACTLY what you went through. I deal with someone like that about once a week. Usually because I am tailgating them because they are daydreaming and going 60mph in the left lane (in a 65mph zone). I just look out the windows and act like I have no idea what they are doing, then try to out wit them on the fake lane changes.... 😀 Sometimes you gotta get goin fast, then when they break check you or slam on the breaks, just go around them in the left berm..... 😀 They never expect it. Ok.... so I've only did that once, but it was totally sweet.

The lane (it was ONE lane, he was virtually trying to pass me on the shoulder) was about to split, I was accelerating and would have had to slam my brakes. There was no reason for him to try passing me at that point, I wasn't going any slower than the next guy ahead of me.
 
y didnt you slam on yours brakes at 100? he couldnt have stopped.

or when he was in front of you, you could have lightly tapped is left/right bumper and made him crash, then continue on like nothing happened.

i shoulda tapped the bumper of a mustang who went to pass 3 cars at once!! we were goin 55 (believe 45 zone) no passing zone, intersection, i was turning left, car in front turning right. he hit about 80-90 to pass all 3 cars. now if i had turned w/o noticing him, he would have been dead, i might have been injured, but he would have spun, and it a pole or something. BUT i had to make sure my computers in the back of my car werent gunna get hurt LOL

Yeah! That would have been a great solution, then your car could get hit by someone doing 20+mph faster than you while you're going 60!! If you're lucky you'll just spin out and total your vehicle without killing anyone.

Um, you could tap it lightly so that they don't completely crash into you... my friend did it while we were in his minivan... and he ended up getting an additiona $5k due to whiplash damage (he did have a sore neck for a week).
 


from what you are describing you are at fault, not him. You are merging onto the freeway, which means you must yield to oncoming traffic. Just because you need to get to the left lane doesn't mean the traffic should stop for you. You need to plan accordingly.

If I read this right, you and some others are on crack.
This guy isn't at fault. He was driving on a 1 lane road, and the guy tried to pass in the emergency lane -- illegal. So he put on his blinker to let the guy know he needs to go left, but the guy didn't let off.

All I can say, is that if this went on for 20 miles, and you didn't think to get his license plate, that sucks...... I hate drivers like that
 
It's amazing how people get a pissed off over something like this and would rather kill somebody than calm down:disgust:

No kidding, it isn't worth it, you could have hurt/killed yourself or worse yet innocent drivers. Check your ego and temper at the door when driving, I don't want to get killed by idiots like you two who don't know when to quit.

you read it wrong, there was no mention of an 'emergency' lane.
