Check in here...tell war stories...have others laugh at us for spending so much $$$ on a processor. Good times...good times.

Love this chip though...still runs pretty strong in most things.

I had an fx55 from dec 06 to june 07. got it for $199 from newegg, however, and sold it for $80 here in dec 07. Not a great cpu experience, but at least I didn't buy it for msrp on launch day...

I'm still running an fx53, built my computer near the end of 04 I think. It's actually doing okay. I've been busy with school work so I haven't started up any CPU intensive games recently (TF2 runs fine but that's more gpu limited, using a 6800 ultra). I'll be building a new rig when I graduate, probably with a 9450.
Interestingly the components that have started to die in my rig are the monitor (2001fp, artifact band appeared 3 months ago), graphics card (power connector complaint, could be PSU related), and my motherboard (MSI K8N neo2 plat, ethernet ports work intermittently).

I have an FX60 running at 3.0GHz since April 2006 on Asus AN832SLI Premium, 4x1GB Corsair XMS DDR550 etc. Survived a Liberty blow out too. (although the AFCI system squelched that semiconductor roman candle fanfare) Good system for gaming but completely incompatible with pro audio gear. :(

Back in March I re-acquired an FX-55 from the friend I sold it to. It used to be in my wife's system before I upgraded her to Core 2 Duo. Now it is in a system that will be used for ACEN, then will probably be available for sale after that.

First AMD was an Opteron 170 - then spent the pocket on a FX60 I was all green to overclocking on the amd side and didn't know about Prime95. I can't remember if i had errors at 3Ghz but lately i have it clockin at 2805 (255x11) DDR 566 Also, yesterday, i made a buy on ebay for a Opty 175 stepping 0704XPMW http://forums.extremeoverclock...howthread.php?t=246130 - so i'm gonna see if i can get anything more out of this old dog

No FX, but I did buy my x2 4400+ at launch for $539 or so... still can't believe I did that, and can't believe that a few weeks ago I got an E8400 for less than half that.

My FX-55 Newegg $139 special is still kicking. It's not my primary PC now, but it's a long way from being obsolete and still handles 90% of everything I need with ease.

Same here, on an nForce3 Ultra with an x1950 Pro AGP. My primary gaming rig... Fortunately the only modern game that I have a desire to play right now is NWN2, a game that runs poorly no matter how good your system is!

I'm still running an FX55 on Asus A8V Deluxe. Built it with the 3500+ but upgraded to the FX55 when Newegg was selling them for $100.

Still playing Tiger Woods 08 on it with a 7800GS.....but thats about it. It's showing it's age with most of the new games so I built a new rig for gaming and just use the 939 for internet.

I like having both rigs. I don't even have internet hooked up to my gaming rig...in fact i have nothing on it but games.

I finnally just retired my 939 system. I didn't have an FX chip though, just an Opty 165. To tell you the truth my 939 still did everything with ease, I just got the upgrade bug and decided to build a new system for the sake of building a new system.

Still running with my 939 chip.. Getting the upgrade itch though. I do graphic design (print) and it's really not cutting it anymore, especially the 2gb of ram.

Definitely been the best platform I have had. The DFI motherboard is exceptionally reliable and rock solid. I'll miss it. :~(

See my sig. Although not FX chips, the Optys were basically the equivalent with locked multis. I got a single core and dual core opty happy in their current roles. The 148 as an MCE box is a great combo. Coupled with a fanless 8400GS, it can handle anything I throw at it with tons of room to spare. I don't see myself replacing it for some years, really. No need. Throwing in a bluray drive isn't going to cripple it.

I dig it....Nothing really special added from '07....graphics are better. I design courses for it and the lack of support EA has given the PC is a little dissapointing. We're still using the '06 course architect to make '08 courses : ( ..... but it's working.

Oh how times change. When I recently pulled my FX55 out of the closet to put it back in service I installed Windows 2000 and 1 gig of RAM. Once it was loaded with SP4 it ran like a bat out of hell and the HD showed only 2.5g used.

Opteron 165 and DFI NF4 SLI-DR. Still running strong but the onboard NIC does show its age (slow).
