Known him all my life, he was a deputy sheriff, I was thinking a falling sparrow in the inside of my arm

a tattoo will help you remember him? If you have a hard time remembering him, I'd say go for it.

why a sparrow? That's poignant for some reason.

Why would you need a tattoo to remember him? You have ADD?
I'd think you'd get it to honor him/his memory.

I have 3 tattoos currently, I was thinking of a falling sparrow in the inside of my left bicep. black & blue with X's for eyes. in the NC's where he was a deputy if a officer of the law is killed they place a black flag with a blue stripe in the middle, seems fitting.....

Is it too forward of me to suggest that you not get a tattoo?
I seriously mean no disrespect, but a tattoo is just one of those things that you can't get rid of, ever. If ever a day comes in your life where you feel you are ready to move on, the tattoo will always be there no matter what you feel at the time.

As far as suggestions go, I think the inside of your arm is a great place, seeing as how it's for you to remember him by, not for everyone else to see how much you want to remember him. Try to go subtle. I like the sparrow idea. It seems pretty cool.
Leave out dates and initials. It makes the tattoo too obvious. I think the beauty lies in only you knowing what it truly means.

edit: posted this before i knew you already had tattoos. I guess that negates my first three lines

yeah! thumbsdown to anyone that doesn't follow doctrine.

OP, sounds like you already know what you want...if you already know, then get it...don't try to get approval or better ideas here, since that is what you feel best fits, that's the right choice.

That is the weakest reason to get a tattoo I ever heard of. Body scarification should be a choice that you consciously made or want for self indulgent pleasure or enlighten/religious belief that you have to live with for the rest of your life.

Wouldn't it be better that you have a party/wake once a year to toast his life? Or, plant a tree in his name & read a poem that celebrate his life at every yearly visit?
