My benchmark is too low?!!!

i just benchmarked my new gf4ti4400 and i only get 6750 with overclocking 300/600. how far can i go? Is that enough coz withouth oc'd i get 6680. I use 1ghz athlon and 384 mb sdram. Plz advise me regarding possible upgrades and their cost . ( in £££ plz) thanks. SID

What did you expect?

Upgrade your processor, motherboard, and RAM. You can drop the motherboard if your current board supports both DDR and SDRAM.

Yer i no but with my old graphics card (gf2mx400) i manged just over 2000points tht mean my new is around 3X faster buti fail to see a significant difference in my games. ok well i can hav FSAA on but some games like global operation and red faction still crawl. im sure my specs meet the reccomended requirements. ????

Your CPU and memory are at it's max with the video card.. upgrade those.. I'm on a P4 1.8A@2.6 and it's 3dmark scores are double yours.. assuming you're using 3dmark.

Sid I get about your scores on my Radeon 8500 OEM 250/250 with my 1.4(266) Athlon,256mb PC2100 and Shuttle AK31. I am guessing by going with a AMD XP CPU of some kind and DDR I think you might see a couple thousand points increase but thats about it. I should be getting little over 7,000 in 3Dmark2001 IMO. I think my system can be tweaked more but don't know where to start other than what I have done already.

i have athlon xp 1700, ecs k7s5a, 256 mb crucial ddr, and gainward geforce 4 ti 4200 overclocked.....in 3dmark i get around 8500

so the general view seems to be heading towards a athlon XP and ddr upgrade. Which mobo is the best? Shud i wait around till christmas coz new throroughbred 'b' and 'ddr400' are coming out and chips shud be reachin 3ghz. whats your opinion?

My old BX with a p3 1ghz and a stock GF3 scored around the same as yours. So that's your bottleneck. I just gave my little brother my 1.1A Celeron overclocked to 1.54... ran 3dmark with a stock radeon 8500 128MB and he gets a 87XX on his BX as well... nothing much compared to the scores of P4s and XPs but that Celeron only cost me $60 and his CUBX came out 3 years ago.

That sounds about right with the specs you listed.
