my bb tour trackball is starting to get stiff

i got a bb tour in july 2009 and the trackball is starting to get stiff sometimes, like there is pocketfuzz gumming it up or something. what should i do? my understanding is that you cant take the trackball out yourself and clean it. should i call verizon, call rim, or just buy a new one like bold? is it likely to be under warranty? ive head the trackballs go bad on this phone a lot and many users have to get their phones replaced/fixed

The trackball assembly is fairly easily removable if its like their other trackball phones and definitely needs to be cleaned. Google how to remove it, but be careful... Some of the parts can be lost easily if you drop them or something.

Yeah, I used to do this with my old Pearls, but the later devices are a little trickier, I think, but then I didn't have my Bold 9000 trackball fail on me.

i used to just spin it wildly to dislodge whatever was getting stuck inside.

Put it face down on a piece of paper and move it very quickly in random circles for ~30 seconds. Always works for me.

what does that do. does it make the gunk come out?

Do the above, but do it with an alcohol towlette, I used the ones that we used to sterlize injection sites. It works like a charm.

Yeah, just rub it around for like 30 seconds. It works perfectly after that.
