My bad experience with Monarch

I placed an order for a mobo/CPU/RAM combo, pre-tested, with Monarch back on November 2nd. I received an e-mail the next day saying my order had been submitted to the warehouse for processing and that combos typically take 2-4 business days to be processed before being shipped. All parts were showing as "in stock" when I placed my order.

As of today, 11/17, I've heard nothing about my order. A couple days ago I sent them an e-mail, per their instructions, inquiring about the status of my order. It has been ignored. I tried to call them yesterday and spent over a half hour on hold. A human never came on the line.

I tried again just now to get a human on the phone to find out what's going on with my order. I tried various lines -- order status, customer service, even the sales line. I've been on hold for over a half hour again.

I placed my order on 11/2 and it's now 11/17. I've received no contact whatsoever from this company about my order and it's physically impossible to get a human on the phone. I can't even cancel my order because there's seemingly no way to get a hold of anyone there.

Just wanted to pass this experience on to anyone considering doing business with this company.

EDIT: See the update in my post at the bottom of this page. They charged my card the full amount on the day I placed my order, then never shipped my parts. :|

Never ordered from them.. but I've had this happen before w/ another company. I called up my bank, faxed copies of original e-mail and follow up e-mail's i sent. Next day the money was back in my account (bank took back the funds)....

Might wanna think about that.

Wow... that's news to me. I've ordered from them many times, but it was about ~1 year ago. It's sad to see that they've become like this.

I had an extremely bad experience with them a few months ago when I ordered a retail X2 4400+. I got an email from them 3 days after my order was placed telling me it was out of stock. I should have canceled then but they indicated that it would ship within a few days so I waited. After almost 2 weeks of waiting I received an OEM 3500+. I tried for 2 days to get through to their CS and finally was given an RMA with the assurance the X2 4400 would ship right out. I finally received it after another week of waiting. My transaction with Monarch was a nightmare ..... I'll never do business with them again.

well i've never had a bad experience with them, but I've noticed over the last year or so that they're not competitive on prices anymore, so I've stayed away from them because more reputable companies (newegg, zzf, mwave, svc, etc) have all had significantly better prices. After hearing all these horror stories on here the last year or so, I'm staying away. RIP monarch.

I've only ever had one experience with Monarch and it was the worst shopping experience I've ever had. Took 30 days to refund my credit card (after they finally decided not to ship) for a part that they never even sent to me. They are terrible.

I guess MonarchJoe doesn't come around anymore🙁 I guess he got tired of trying to defend their recenct practices.

Real shame, I've dealt quite a bit with Monarch in the past and always had great service. Evidently they've gone to the dogs in the last year

Well, at least I'm not alone here. Like some of you guys said, I don't know what happened either -- the reason I ordered the combo from them in the first place was that I had ordered several things from them last year & the year before and was happy with the prices, ship time, etc. I thought they were a pretty good vendor.

Oh well, I'm canceling my order and will notify my credit card company tomorrow morning to not approve a charge from Monarch. I will never do business with them again. :frown:

It took long enough. They've been stealing (borrowing for long periods of time, and paying no interest) people's money for quite some time now. I'm glad to see it happen.

After reading this thread, I don't think I'll be buying from Monarch anytime in the near decade.

Wow. :Q Wish I had known about all this before I placed that order (obviously). Thanks for taking the time to provide all that info and post all those links.

Wolves at the door indeed ....

Same thing happened to me. I ordered two video cards online a while back. But I didn't hear a peep out of them. So after a week or so I emailed them to see if they had shipped and to confirm the shipping charges were to Canada. Never heard anything back. About a week later I emailed them again and they next day sent back my order showing they had charged my Visa account with a $66 shipping charge (the online form said $26). I disputed this amount and I said since they haven't shipped it yet to cancel the order. Then I got two angry e-mails back from Monarch, one from their manager, saying the order was already in the shipping dept, what a lousy customer I was for wasting their time for having to pull the order after it had gone to shipping, ect. I couldn't believe it. After sitting on my order for two weeks and charging my account with ripoff shipping charges, they were rude and condesending to me, the customer! What a crummy outfit!!

I have to say that my purchase from them was top notch and this was 6 months ago. I ordered a Motherboard/CPU combo from them as well as a disk drive and a Hard Disk.

I was given a ship date and they missed it. I e-mailed them 2 days after they missed the shipped date and I got a response back the very next day saying it was being sent out. I later received a confirmation e-mail saying it had been shipped with my info. I recieved my merchandise and have no problems with any of it.

Sure they missed the ship date, but no one is perfect and as far as I'm concerned understandable.

Any way, I would order from them again. Then again, that's just me.

Then again, that was six months ago. If you've read this whole thread and still would order from them again, I've got some beachfront property in Iraq I'd like to sell you. Seriously, try calling their main phone number on Monday and see if you can get a human on the phone. I've logged over an hour on hold this week. :frown: They aren't even answering their phones, presumably 'cuz they know it's likely gonna be some justifiably irate customer on the other end. That's my opinion, anyway.

I ordered a case from them ~ six months ago and like you, they missed the ship date, but I wasn't too ticked off. I guess a lot can happen in six months, though, 'cuz their problems now seem to be far beyond just missing a ship date by a couple days.

UPDATE: I called my credit card company and found out that Monarch charged my card the full amount of $355.62 clear back on November 2nd, the day I placed my order. :| They're not supposed to charge people's cards before orders are shipped, and of course my order was never shipped. I'm disputing the charge with my card company, of course, but now I have to hassle with all that. These people at Monarch are out & out crooks, in my opinion. They're going to get one more e-mail from me asking them to refund the charge on my card, which I'm guessing they'll ignore. If I have to go thru much more hassle with these fraud merchants, they'll be dealing with my attorney. Can you say, "intentional infliction of emotional distress"?

This is why newegg is so highly rated. Although they don't ALWAYS have the best prices they do take care of customers. ZZF is good on shipping and has excellent prices, but I hear their RMA system is lacking. Mwave has been as good as newegg for me although newegg's selection is alot better. SVC is great for small parts and cables etc because they don't hose you on shipping.

I rarely buy from anywhere else except these places.

I agree 100%. Those are my three or four favorite vendors too, for the same reasons you stated. I've also bought a few things from TheNerds.net and so far have been very happy with them as well.
