My Axim Arrived!

You can use it in the charger, can't you? I remember using my maestro as soon as it came, I just left it in the charger.

It is quite clear in the quick start guide to not use it until it has charged for at least 4 hours...

I just got mine too when I got back home 6am this morning.

Charging 4 hours sux though. Can't play with it until after work and not even then if I go out afterwards. Gah.

I've been wanting for this baby for about a month now and I finally ordered it last weekend. I totally need it because I am sometimes very forgetful and scatterbrained and I need lists and an easy way to record lists all the time. My current PDA, an ancient ghetto monochrome Handspring Deluxe, just doesn't cut it anymore and I don't feel like using it.

Installing ActiveSync and PocketPC Outlook now.

w00t!!

Don't use it before you charge it for the first time. It can mess up the battery if it doesn't have a completly full first charge. Yes, I know the tempatation is high to play with it...but don't 🙂

EDIT: Of course this thread is a couple days old...so by all means, go right ahead 🙂

It's the original poster mwilding who got his Axim a few days ago. I on the other hand just got it an hour a half ago.

Still charging. I'm thinking of bringing it into work and continue charging it there. I can't figure out how to install the stuff from the CD. The setup just asks me to save the setup.exe to my HD but then when I go where I saved it, it does nothing when I click on it. Gah I'm such a n00b sometimes.😛

people who buy PDA's either use them too much or never use them at all

I'm with the latter group, bought a total of 5 PDA's never really used any of them more than 1 month.

However if one day we can access WiFi from anywhere within the city and games are just as good as GBA SP then I might actually use it.

Diito on that.

i went from:

Clie PEG-S300 --> Visor Platinum --> PEG-S300 --> PalmV

Most I used them for was games. Specifically, playing Yahtzee with the wife on road trips, and that Space Commodity game.

LOL I totally know what you mean, if I recall correctly I went from

Palm IIIxe -> Palm Vx -> Handspring Visor Deluxe -> Sony PEG-S120 -> Dell Axim (order cancelled)

Never used any of those PDA's for more than 1 month.

same here. still stuck with my visior deluxe from ages ago. was tempted to get an axim myself. but all i use my visor for is my train schedule (B.A.R.T.). and occasional appointments.

Wi-Fi is good for occasional chatting, downloading e-mail, however is supreme annoyance when 'browsing the net'. Not too many sites are designed for the pocket pcs/pdas so be prepared to do alot of scrolling, resizing fonts, and waiting since even with a broadband connection it chokes it down to a point where it seems almost like a fast dial up.

Arent the faster ones $200 now?

edit: n/m, I must have been watching an old episode of Fresh Gear and was too bust staring at Sumi Das notice.

Did it come with PocketPC 2003? If it did, how is it? I have an older Axim and am thinking of upgrading to it just so I can get a better PIE.
