i have someone to work with actually, he's gonna take care of the dimensions and all that

we need to pick something that can be disassembled into 3 parts. this takes care of it and that's like the only guideline the teacher gave us and he gave me a go-ahead to work on this anyway.

Autocad? I've never touched it, when I interned with some mechanical engineers they made disparaging remarks about it. I learned on Pro-E and Solidworks.

i heard mechanical engineers use some other programmes like cadkey or something. My major isn't mechanical engineering anyway.

Hahaha. I made a toy tank for my AutoCAD 1 final last year. We had to finish early though, because our drawings were sent over to wood-shop which became their final projects :)

Why?
Maybe he had to learn AutoCAD as part of the project/classes.

I took a Autodesk course in modelling, never used it in practice tho :(

You should get DeadAIM. Not that that would help you get more work done but tabbed chatting is nice. I use the conversation log also.
