Note: I originally posted this in the software forum, but since the problem is general across everything that requires video/audio, I now feel the GH forum is the best place for my question.
Hey again anandtech,
So, to get my 2gig ballistix ram package compatible with my Asus msn-2li, I had to flash my BIOS to a beta version. After doing that, the ram is compatible, but now I have a fun new problem: the audio/video on my machine is going crazy. As in, it's appears to be in full fastforward, with the audio playing at the proper pitch (ie, no chipmunks), but about 4x the normal speed, with intermittant cracking and the like.
This problem plagues video playback. Also, the audio behaves in the same manner when I'm playing a video game (ie: rome:tw or cs:source) right out of the gate. The graphics acceleration usually behaves fine at first, but over the course of 30 minutes my framerate will drop from apprx. 160 fps in cs:source to the 30-40s with shoddy performance.
My video card is the EVGA Geforce 7900GT.
My sound card is the Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 NX.
I am on SP2.
I was having this problem when I was running "loaner" RAM from BestBuy, but managed to fix it with one of about a thousand patches/updates I tried.
Usually, when I restart the machine, it will behave normally for 15 minutes or so, then revert to the same problem.
I have all the updated drivers to my VC and SC, along with AC3Filter and ffdshow as codecs. I have also tried updating the onboard video and audio. No dice.
Anyone know an option I can use, apart from slowing down my graphics acceleration, that will help me?
PS - if this is in the wrong forum, my apologies. I will close and repost as needed.
