So, I posted a while back that I purchased a 2014 Audi S5 Technik. I bought it with 59k KM on the odometer. So far I've had 2 "minor" issues with car.

The check engine light came on. I pulled the code and it was P0492 - Insufficient Flow Secondary Air Pump Bank 2. After some google sleuthing, it was potential carbon build up. I didn't like the sounds of that. Made an appointment with Audi to have a look. It was at the same time, my A/C stopped blowing cold. Great, this should be a cheap visit.

I was told the High pressure switch was gone on the A/C, common issue, relatively inexpensive fix, +/- $200. I was also told that they would need to de-carbonize the engine. They mentioned that this is a common problem with some of the engines, but my car was out of warranty, so the dealership pulled the sensor on Bank 1 (to get P0491 code as well) and spoke with Audi Canada to have them cover 80% of the cost. They did the work.

Check Engine light comes back on a few days later, and wouldn't you know, A/C stops blowing cold again. I take it back, they said the high pressure switch they installed failed again (must have been faulty?), and they noticed a hair line crack in the combi valve for the secondary air pump system. Replaced both parts with no charge to me.

Check Engine light comes back on the day after I pick up the car, same P0492 code. A/C still blowing cold, so that's good. Car goes back into Audi on Thursday. They seemed stumped over the phone, as they said they were extremely confident that they solved the issue with the secondary air pump system. Hopefully they can resolve it this time. Although drive-ability is not affected, I hate seeing that yellow light on the dash.

TLDR: A/C has quit twice and hopefully now fixed, only paid for 1 repair. CE light showing Secondary Air Fault, Audi can't seem to fix, going back for third time for the same problem.

It's an Audi, the CEL is how you know the dash lights still work. :D

But I guess there's always a small chance they messed something up with the new sensor?

I've watched a few videos on the system and diagnosing issues, along with some reading research. It can only really be a leaky vacuum line, or maybe the de-carbonizing didn't de-carbon enough. Hopefully they get it this time.

At least I get a free loaner car while they have it.

Price of owning a german sporty rig. You get to know the entire repair shop on a first name basis.

You on the east coast? Nice that the AC went out during a heat wave...

What's the loaner? Mini-review requested.

Both times I have received a loaner have been 2018 Q3's. The first one was loaded, the second one was base model...I mean I had to use an actual key to start it...the horror. It's comfortable enough, but too small for my liking. Plus the transmission was clunky on the downshift on both models, so I assume it's just the nature of that tranny. The little 2.0L is actually quite peppy.

Car went back into the shop this morning. I was given a 2018 Audi A4...I really like the interior, but it has 2 too many doors.

Got my car back. They re-did the engine de-carbonizing. Here's to hoping.

Hi,

I'm getting "P0492 - Insufficient Flow Secondary Air Pump Bank 2." too.
Who did you talk to Audi Canada as local Audi dealer said it is not covered under extended warranty?
