Well, to my surprise, it wasn't my mobo that bit the dust. My x700 crapped out. I'm not a very hardcore gamer as you can tell. I play some WoW and eve-online once in a while. I do not want something that breaks my budget

Knowing that the newer generation of video cards are coming out should I get an older gen now? I don't need the latest and greatest. Thanks!

I would just go with the 9600gt and call it a day. It should massively outperform your last card, should be PSU friendly, and should last a long while at your apparent specifications.

Ah woah, that freaks me out. Cheapness. At that price I would likely go with the 8800gt... a 10% or so performance increase, especially at higher resolutions, will last you longer. I can't see any significantly cheaper 9600's after a very brief search, might not be worth the effort if you can afford the 8800gt.

Wow... That's serious overkill if you were happy with your x700. The 8800gt or 9600gt are both probably 10 or more times faster than your x700.

Nonetheless, if you're happy having your new powerful card then enjoy it.
