Ok, so I decided to try a little benchmark testing different ram timings to find which is best.
Test setup:
Board: Chaintech vnf4/ultra
Cpu: Amd64 939 3000+ 1.8 @ 2.45
Ram: Corsair VS cas 2.5 2x512mb
Test program: Everest Home
Results: (@ddr350)
Timings Read Write Latency
2-3-3-6 5104 2073.5 47.65
2-3-3-7 5122.5 2065 48.25
2-3-3-8 5101.5 2076 47.30
2-3-3-9 5201.5 2080.5 49.55
2-3-3-10 5249.5 2080 48.75
2-3-3-11 5219.5 2072.5 49.50
2-3-3-12 5093.5 2075 47.00
2-3-3-13 5209.5 2079.5 48.35
2.5-3-3-6 5128.5 1987 51.65
(^just to check what cas 2.5 would be).
So by latency(best to worst), it'd be 12, 8, 6, 7, 13, 10, 11, 9.
And by Read bandwidth it'd be 10, 11, 13, 9, 7, 6, 8, 12.
And by Write bandwidth it'd be 9, 10, 13, 8, 12, 6, 11, 7.
So 10 did well in both read and write, but is not the top for latency.
So my question is, what's more important, read, write, latency, or some kind of combination? Which of the above would you pick as the best?
