Okay, I haved this card for over four months but since the original drivers did not support Win2k I had to wait to overclock it. I just downloaded the Smart Doctor and the Tweaking Utility and when I run smart doctor it says my video card is overheated after only about 10 minutes of CS 1.0. The card has its engine overclocked to 129 and the memory at 350. I didnt think this was pushing it too much and im just wondering if anyone can suggest a solution to the problem? As well what is a suggested temperature for the card to be at. Idle im getting 72 C 160 F. Gaming it goes into the 90 C and then smart doctor tells me to cool down.

I also have a AMD 650 athalon (not overclocked)
asus K7V mobo and
256 MB of crucial cas 2
IBM 20 GB HD

A little bit of an update. I set the card so its at the default settings. I ran the smart doctor while playing CS 1.0 again and the card got overheated to 92 C. What is going on here??? It shouldn't go up that high... Any ideas?

If you know what you're doing (like me) you can unscrew the fan and remove all the dust, from the fan and the heatsink. There should be quite a bit of dust if you've had it for 4 months. Also you might as well run your computer with the case open for a while to make sure the fan on the video card is actually working. Also the SmartDoctor RPM readings should be at least 6000RPM.

My card is 60 deg C while idle, and I have no idea how hot it gets during games. I doubt as hot as yours though.

My V6800 DDR Deluxxx idles at 55C an the fan is consistently at 5000rpm. It gets up to 65-70C after prolonged gaming (especially in the summer)but I don't notice any ill effects. I usually clock it at 125/325 but go to 130/330 if I'm running 3DMark or some other video benchmark. You might consider a BLORB or just removing the stock heat sink/fan and putting some non-conductive thermal paste underneath before reattaching.
