Hi !

I bought my new Duron PC 1 month ago :), and I've been unable to run any game for more than 10 minutes.... I've tried everything (installing new drivers/bios, upping the voltages, moving cards around...), but nothing helped..I'm almost sure that it's the video card that's fu($)## up everything.. It's a Hercules Geforce2MX... :| So my question is: Does the new ATI Radeon cards have the same compatibility problem with the KX133 MotherBoards? Or do I have to change the MotherBoard ? :(

Thanx

Your board is a KT133 chipset,so I think the problem is Detonator 3 drivers(there are known issues) try Detonator2 Drivers, that is what I`m using rock solid on my KT133 board MSI K7T PRO & Geforce2 MX get them from here .

Either that, or try the newest D3 leaked drivers - 6.26 and up (maybe) have some fixes for KT133 boards. I'm running 6.27 right now with no problems...

Also, SBLive can cause problems on A7V. Did you try running without the SBLive installed?

Finally, you can always try an older BIOS - a lot of people have had problems with 1004a and 1004c (not to mention higher temps). I'm finally able to run stable at 900MHz after switching back to 1003 (and setting I/O voltage to 3.3V)...

Good luck.

ohmygosh

I have written this so many times that I am now cut and pasting...

look, first of all I have the EXACT same setup and I have no problems.

IF you have already reformatted and reinstalled the 6.26 drivers OR ABOVE NOT THE 6.18s!!!

DONT LISTEN TO THE MORONS THAT ARE SAYING THAT THE 6.18s ARE GOOD DRIVERS!

THEN, make sure and install the 4 in 1 v. 4.25 drivers (www.viahardware.com) drivers are in the lower left corner

1. install the USB filter 1st
2. install the AGP driver (make note of where it keeps the viagart. file)

3. IMPORTANT - then and only then install the 4in1s ... it may ask you on boot up for the viagart file - browse to the location.

4. Install DX7a
5. after all this install the 6.2x or 6.3x drivers from nVidia

get that bios revision off. go back to the 1004a

If you are still having probs, hopefully you bought that mobo somewhere that you can return it. There are a few known issues out there and I had to return 2 A7Vs before I got one that was stable.

My system has been running with no crashes for almost a month, and at this point I think that everything is fine.

ALSO!!!

The memory cannot be overlooked!

Hopefully, you have some decent memory. If not, that is probably your problem. I would seriously consider investing in some High quality memory. NO one hates this fact more than I do, but cheaper generic memory + AMD durons, tbirds and athlons DO NOT MIX.

good luck!

At 900mhz it would run fine with 1.75 volts but would crap out in games or video benchmarking (fall back to desktop). Once upped to 1.85volts it was fine.

Use bios 1003 and enable PCI Master read Cache if you are using a DURON and you want lower cpu temps. You need to disable cpuidle also (trust me). Go here for an explanation as to why and how. 1004 will not allow it to be enabled. Juggernaut has a modded 1003 that includes the promise bios from 1004. I am using it right now and it works very nice, thank you JN.

Regardless of temp I get much better stability with 1003 and jumper settings.

What else? No the MX works fine in the A7V because TONS of people are using them. Just keep tweaking, you'll get to the bottom of it. I assume you bought this system just for this reason; so that YOU could set it up. If you are not accepting of the bugs that system builders have to work out then don't build systems. It is just that simple. I've had prefab systems with more problems than this one.

Also, once I had to reinstall 3d mark2000 because it kept crapping out in the rendering phase. I tried everything to figure out why. After a reinstall it was fine. Something got corrupt on the HD is my guess. A few guys resolved Unreal Tournament probs this way also. Don't overlook a reinstall as an option after you've tried all other areas.

TRIFECTA: Will that specific order of installation work for
other KT133 chipsets too - like the ABIT KT7?

Go into device manager under systems properties and disable Sound blaster Pro emulation, that fixed all the probs with my A7V.
