My apartment is infested

with these!

I want out. Might it be possible to talk them into letting me out of my lease? I really don't consider these to be livable conditions when I have to be scared to sleep in my bed or sit on my couch or put on my clothes because I might get stung by a scorpion. I actually have been stung three times now. I can and have called the exterminator out but there's not a whole lot they can do about scorpions. They are quite resistant to sprays and such. The exterminator might help to reduce their numbers but I don't think they can totally get rid of them. Will my credit be screwed if they let me out of the lease or if I pay to break it?

that's pretty scary. i've never seen one of those in my life, and i'm glad they arn't in NJ. At least i dont think they are...

Where you at in Phoenix? I moved down here in May and *luckily* haven't run into any of those critters yet. A coworker of mine told me that once you get them in the house, it's almost impossible to permanently get rid of them.

🙁

I can only remeber seein gone scorpion ever, and it was on a rock in the woods, not in my house. I would be upset if my house had scorpions in it.

The one on the rock was actually kinda cool, though.

I'm in the north valley. Never had a problem with scorpions at all before moving into this apartment. Also no one I know has this kind of problem and they all totally freak when I tell them about it.

Does anyone know anything about my credit question?

Black on the feet, makes a tasty treat
If the tail looks yellow, the sting'll kill a fellow.

Or maybe thats for snakes.... 😕

get an inspector to inspect the apt and have him write a report. get some proof that the apt is NOT safe to live in, then you can break the lease and move out. seriously, that's insane.

Get a cat.

... a cat will get pwned by scorpions. The next thing you know, the cat won't come off the top of the refrigerator.

You need to get the health dept. or something to look at the place. Scorpions are freakin' scary and creepy.

I've seen one in the wild, EVER. I was out in West Texas, peein' on the side of a road, and one of them charges me, and clamps my boot and trys to sting me. So I kick him off after a couple trys, and he comes after me again. I had a Sig 228 in a nylon hip holster at the time, and plugged him with one shot, on the run. I was pretty proud of myself. 😀

Right. Yeah, you plugged him with SOMETHING, but it wasnt a Sig shot.... 😛

I remember tallgeese telling me that he had some in his house. But, there are many kinds. These were not the 4 inch ones that are nasty, but just tiny ones more like little beetles. I'd love to see a pic of them. Eitherway, I'd not live there with that. I'd remove myself, or remove them.

Your credit wont reflect anything as long as you do it all legally or if you have a nice landlord. Most places you can buy out the remainder of your lease,or if your close to the end just forfeit your security deposit or even find someone who wants the apartment and is ready to sign a lease with the propery management to take your place over.
I dont know though,I think you have some winning legal odds on your side,if they wont get professionals in there I would be making some important phone calls if I were you.

Take it from someone who knows...if you pay to break the lease then your obligation is settled. If they claim to "let you out of the lease" make sure you get it in writing. Otherwise you'll be screwed.
