My Amp keeps blowing fuses when the ground wire is connected.

Hey, I am hooking up my amp which worked in my last car to my new one (Miata MX5 1999) and my 25 A fuse keeps burning out when I connect the ground wire to ground on the car battery. I tried finding some place to ground the wire to my car frame prior to connecting to the battery but cannot find anything that works as ground.

Any ideas?

Your amp is likely broken, it has nothing to do with the grounding method. Either that or there is a short in one of the outputs. Disconnect all the speaker wires and see if it still blows fuses. If you're lucky it has some internal protection against shorting, but most car amps I have seen do not.

crashtech is right =my guess worked before now snapping fuses=installed amp with out connecting wires gd mount yes =now wires that supply to amp =when in yr buzz 2 crank it up wires im guessing again frm trunk to th deck routing under n around metal brackets caught n touching snapping fuses all day=fixing ha =got time after this yr going open yr own shop=got time=do fish? ok
grab a multi meter measures flow (im not teacher) in the wire test a small wire hold red one end n black to other end =ok what u got= right= flow! test wires-disconnected from one end 2 th other end nowt trick is 2 invest clips + wire +wire strippers, dont forget the tip lol hook one wire in th system =move wire until th meter shows differents of a number= test a bad fuse then a good one =u got it ! don't forget 2 breath !!
