Hope all the reviews are correct, this sucker is tiny. Makes a Golden Orb look like a monster. I don't have the time to try it out right now, but later this afternoon I'll put it through it's paces & see how well it stacks up to my current PEP66/Delta 38 combo.

~$40, but I'm sure the price will drop below $20 once they become common. I didn't feel like waiting.

I seriously hope it's worth it for ya...

please update us with many benchmark numbers :)

I have an Alpha PEP66/Delta 38 combo. That cost me $47, the Arcticooler is cheaper than that.

Plus, check out Kyle's results over at the HardOCP. His results are pretty positive, & he replaced the thermal compound just like I will, with Arctic Silver.

OUCH....
look's like you got ripped a new one there...

There is first of all NO WAY that that sliver thing is better then a PEP66. And secondly 2cooltek also removed the pad and put on regular thermal paste

Hmmm ... we shall see next week when several more of us here at AT receive our AC's.

Perhaps that thermal pad that is included really does make a difference. Read "Way Cool Effect" and other info on Agilent's site for more details. I'm not sure whether or not to remove the pad now, but on the other hand, heating my CPU to 65C (to get the phase change on the thermal pad) is not a very appealing idea either.

Preliminary results of the AC don't look so good. I'm not sure if my thermal compound is applied sufficiently, as the Arctic Silver looked WAY runnier than normal. That may be part of the problem.

At 1001 MHz/1.85V, with my Alpha PEP66/Delta 38 combo my P3 700e ran no higher than 37ºC under full load.

With the AC installed, I couldn't even boot into W98 at that speed/voltage. Right now I'm running at 966 MHz/1.75 V, under full load, at 46ºC.

Not good. Also, the AC was a BITCH to install on my IWILL Slocket II. The capacitors get in the way, & the clip is VERY stiff. I have bright red marks across my thumbs from fastening it, & several times I was sure I was going to break either my CPU or my slocket.

I'm not pulling the AC back off tonight, but maybe tomorrow I'll pull it & replace the thermal compound.

The noise level is much more bearable with the AC than with the PEP66. I almost think I'm better off with it installed & losing 33 MHz, since I might actually be able to sleep with it this way.

Keep us posted as to how it goes.

I was strongly considering purchasing these ACs to replace my PEP66 (and sell it off) and gain a couple of DIMM slots.

Kyle's numbers are puzzling. How did he get it to perform so well?

I still wonder if the secret really is their thermal pad.

It's smaller than the Gorb, but the fins are much thicker..

Hmm.. These were awesome coolers when people first found out about them.. Or, maybe their diffrent than the Arctic Circle? Perhaps a diffrent alloy of aluminum or something?

But we may just have to accept the fact that recent technology from the heatsink people has surpassed them..

Hey Viper, I didn't know we were neighbors. ;) I live in Hellsburrito...

Well, let me ask you a good question then. What is the best Socket370/A cooler that doesn't block any DIMM slots(when used with Slot1/A boards)? I know you've got a great deal of space with a Socket370 board, but people who use slockets will have some trouble finding a short and high performing cooler.

Kyle tested with both the thermal pad AND Arctic Silver thermal paste.

I e-mailed him last night with my results, & his opinion was the surfaces weren't mating properly. He's used them more than just the review, & he's never had any problems with them.

I've ordered a MSI slocket, in hopes that the capacitors will be a little more ArctiCooler friendly, & will test it out on that slocket & post my results again.

[EDIT]Eli... Yes, that would make us neighbors.[/EDIT]
