I read a post somewhere else which I think explains WHY I had troubles delidding.
Someone reported that utility cutters are still way too thick to cut under the IHS ..even those common DIY hobby razors can be too thick. The person said he was only able to cut with the extremely thin shaving razors, he actually destroyed two CPU with the cutters...
This was exactly the impression I had, that the blades were too thick to even get under the IHS. As far as I remember I cut into the sides of the IHS multiple times...
The irony is that I had this "advice" with the DIY cutters from another board where someone "recommended" NOT to use the super-thin blades because there is danger to cut into the PCB. (Obviously this "advice" was wrong and had almost cost me my CPU).
As for now, I am resisting the itch to try the delid again (it's really something going against my OCCT.... OCD

I mean....since I hate how hot this CPU gets). But I am trying to resist the urge seeing that the CPU is "gnarly" and already lost pins, probably from the pre-owner. (The temps I am seeing in OCCT I don't see even in heavy gaming, BF4 etc. barely goes to 70dec. I am telling myself that a working CPU that gets hot only under extreme stress-testing is better than a non-working one).
I would probably long gotten a vise and just smashed off the cap...but with THIS CPU I am really hesitant to smash it with a hammer
