Basically I got a new HDD and it doesn't make a peep until it trys to boot up and finds no OS then goes nutz with the beeping. I'm fdisking the hdd but how do I turn this crap off? It's annoying as hell!!!!

It's not the PC speaker it's some other thing that abit has on it. I Found the problem. Abit has 3 Fan headers and they all have the same label of Fan 1, Fan 2 , Fan 3. Anyway I pluged my CPU fan into one of them and apparently that was the wrong one! and the motherboard kept thinking there was no cpu fan and it was beeping like crazy. Anyhow I changed it to another fan header and it works now. God atleast label 1 of them for CPU!!!!!!!

glad you got rid of the problem.
but i would have sworn, ABIT-mobos with several fan-haeders simply don't boot when the CPU-fan isn't used.
