My Abit KR7A-RAID does not want to display a video signal. How can I fix this?

I just put my system together, but to my dismay, my motherboard does not display a video signal. I just installed a Geforce 2 Ultra, and it did not work. Then I installed a Riva 128, and that did not work. Then I tried both of these cards in my other computer and they worked flawlessly.

I cleared the CMOS several times and I still got the same problem.

Did I just receive a messed up motherboard? What should I do? Should I return it?

I am thinking of returning it and telling the sales reps to give me another one. Or I am also thinking of changing it for an Asus A7V266-E w/ RAID.

What should I do?

Seems silly, but check that your CPU is seated correctly, and that the ram is pushed down properly - I don't have a KR7A-Raid, but Ive been reading up on it, as I am strongly considering it for my next mobo, apparrently you have to push the ram down really hard to get it so seat correctly (go to the AMDMB abit forums to read more)

If it is emitting a constant beeping, and displaying no vid signal, it is probably the RAM issue.

I had to seat each of my 2 sticks about a dozen times to get it up and running. I have populated every slot of my BH6 without having to reseat a stick more than once, as I recal, and also the spare slot on my laptop. Either the KR7A is more difficult or it is something to do with DDR (though I doubt it...)

Good luck, I hope it isn't the board

I bought the new Asus .....but was faulty..... and send it back, to get the Abit KR7A-RAID. Well the best choise I think for a KT266a chipchet ! !

Possible problems u might have... !
1). If u dont connect the monitor cable the mother doesnot beep - to boot normally
2). Ram is a bit tricky....take it out and stickit in back . . .
3). The vga might not be connected well...

If still no boot.... then replace it with the SAME KR7A. DONOT MAKE THE MISTAKE TO get the asus crap.

Good Luck...!

it took considerable force to install my ram.. I had the mb laying on a piece of plywood with the pink shipping foam thing underit and installed my ram that way I actually got a "pop" from one stick. kinda scary but I didnt have any ram issues.. I have dimm1 and dimm2 populated
I guess what I am saying is check your ram.. it may not be seated

Thanks to all who responded. I got my system working yesterday and it was that I did not push the RAM in hard enough.

Sapilas, based on your comments, I highly doubt the board was faulty. More likely it was an issue of operator error.
