I live in a house with 2 other roomates. We share a phone line and an answering machine.

I receive a lot of business calls, and personal calls from mature people, on this phone line.

I have asked my roomates NOT to change the message greeting to anything immature or distasteful.

For the 5th (yes I said 5th) time my a$$ hole roomate has changed the greeting to something VERY filthy !!! I keep asking him not to, and he keeps doing it !!!!

What should I do ?

I cannot lock the machine up in my room (no lock on the door)

Must I give up the answering machine service all together ?

Is there some way of LOCKING the greeting to make it un-changeable ?

I have a busineess Cell phone. It does NOT receive service inside my house. I must rely on the home phone for a backup line.

is he being malicious or does he think its funny? if it's the latter, make it really clear to him that it is not funny. if it's the former u shouldn't be living with him

thats the only thing i can think of.

I really dont want the responsibility of relaying everyone elses messages to them. But this may be the only option.

Yes, its called baseball bat to the stomach once or twice. After that your answering machine message should be locked.

He is just a dumb drunk. I tell him not too...he sais "Sorry dude..it wont happen again"...then he gets drunk, and "poof" I have a new nasty greeting on my machine.

have you thought of getting a voicemail service from your telephone company..make sure you dont tell him your password..soem of them allow for multiple voicemail boxes so one for you one for them..also alot of answering machines do have password features i believe.

Bill him for the business he's cost you - see if he finds that "funny"
